My interest in ceramics and photography is often overlapping. Objects of interest to me sometimes come from random fallen leaves or layering of mountain range upon mountain range. A blending of glaze over textured clay gives controlled random color. A clay surface becomes a focus for flat abstract photograph. Leaf or flower structure becomes inspiration for ceramic texture.
Finding the art is my goal.

Winter in the cold
We had a small snow with cold temp's this weekend and this is a result of walking thru the woods.
Great shots, as usual. In the second picture I love the crystal growth juxtaposed with the smooth growth lines on the main part of the ice. It's like quartz and the growth rings of trees. Vegetable or mineral? It shows nature is all about repeated patterns across all boundaries.
Thanks John, I have great interest in nature's random order and geometry in nature as you have picked up in the romanesco cauliflower pict. and the sunflower photo on my opening page. Thanks for the info link to Fibonacci. Looks like some interesting reading to do.

ReplyDeleteFractals and Fibonacci
BTW, I think your picture of the romanesco is better than the one on the fractal page.

ReplyDeleteLove those first two photos, especially the second one with the brown and white, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI just checked the links of fractals and fibonaci and will now look at nature especially plants and food in a whole new light.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, that is part of my mission.
