New sculpture for January

3 views of new work, to be bisk fired and then glazed. Approx 12" tall. My object was to make a sculptural hollow form and then cut away part of the body. I liked it when the clay started to open up but not quite thru the body completely leaving a ragged edge as oppossed to the smooth curved outside form.

  1. Love it. How are you going to glaze it?

  2. Don't know what I am going to do with it yet. I am thinking about a combination of copper oxide and iron oxide brushed over to give a metallic almost flaky gray look, and maybe and just a hint of red or bright yellow at the edge of the rounded rugged cut outs as the only color. Organic vs.metal and intense color vs gray and smooth vs cutting.
