My interest in ceramics and photography is often overlapping. Objects of interest to me sometimes come from random fallen leaves or layering of mountain range upon mountain range. A blending of glaze over textured clay gives controlled random color. A clay surface becomes a focus for flat abstract photograph. Leaf or flower structure becomes inspiration for ceramic texture.
Finding the art is my goal.

New Stuff, different direction exploring
P5 clay with transparent glazes, a little more finished than usual for me.
It is a new transparent emerald green in our studio glazes, poured it over the piece sitting in a basin. The bottom edge came out too thick with this method, will put something under it next time. The bowl with a small foot I had a root from a wisteria vine (I don't throw anything away, I call it my ugly stick) and "beat the outside to give it a random texture.
Beautiful pieces and color, how did you achieve the green?

ReplyDeleteBit late on this post; been away from the blogosphere for a while...
ReplyDeleteYou have great talent with "finished" pieces as well as your "rustic" ones. Bravo to you sir. Love the transparent green.
