New sculpture for January

3 views of new work, to be bisk fired and then glazed. Approx 12" tall. My object was to make a sculptural hollow form and then cut away part of the body. I liked it when the clay started to open up but not quite thru the body completely leaving a ragged edge as oppossed to the smooth curved outside form.

Trip to the Farmers Market Photos

A great 28 degree trip to the market today!  Great stuff from the earth. Had to do some photo fun with it before the table. Took a little artistic liberty with them. Have never seen cauliflower like this or the color of these carrots.

New to the family of porcelain and home clay

Family of three, latest is top left.
This is the latest of my free form bowls with porcelain 5 clay mixed/layered with my home clays, biggest so far at about 12" across. No glaze or glass this time just natural colors of clay.

Clays were hand folded many times together and rolled to sheet before hand forming the bowl and exposing the rim textures and some carving. Fired at cone 5.

Leaves and Gray

This is a great season to be outside with a camera. Parking lot with a moldy concrete wall gives that opportunity for seasonal contrasts.

If I only had the talent

Saw this on the way to office this morning, It is JUST a rock in with a bunch of old past prime roses and weeds! I would give ...to be able to create this in clay!!!
