Clays were hand folded many times together and rolled to sheet before hand forming the bowl and exposing the rim textures and some carving. Fired at cone 5.
My interest in ceramics and photography is often overlapping. Objects of interest to me sometimes come from random fallen leaves or layering of mountain range upon mountain range. A blending of glaze over textured clay gives controlled random color. A clay surface becomes a focus for flat abstract photograph. Leaf or flower structure becomes inspiration for ceramic texture. Finding the art is my goal.
I love your new direction and also the natural colors of the clay.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it is a fun adventure in learning!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great organic look. It's tricky to achieve that without looking forced. Love the layering and edges.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Thanks John, look forward to seeing you in the sudio!. Great New Year to you too!
ReplyDeleteDo you think it is better unglazed as I chose or some added color/texture? I'll bring it in for your critical thinking input. This is a direction I want to continue to explore, but bigger if I can get the clay to work with me.
