My interest in ceramics and photography is often overlapping. Objects of interest to me sometimes come from random fallen leaves or layering of mountain range upon mountain range. A blending of glaze over textured clay gives controlled random color. A clay surface becomes a focus for flat abstract photograph. Leaf or flower structure becomes inspiration for ceramic texture. Finding the art is my goal.

Clay abstract kiln fired
My clay abstract tile has been fire. I have a combination of indigenous red clays and iron and copper oxides and a small clear glaze over the green(cooper oxide) "river" in the vertical area. Fired cone 6. See the before final firing .

Friday notes
Yesterday i had 19 items come out of bisk ...a record for me. The one I have photoed here is a wall plaque (it cracked in loading but...) that will go directly to cone 6 fire with minor changes. and the leaf photo is same leaf as the Monday 27th leaf after drying. Great color and texture. The last photo is just a B/W shot of a simple 3 leaf composition.

New fire and stuff
A new firing of the platter shown on May 23rd as letterhard clay. Amazing what a little heat will do to clays, no glaze here.
And a little storm debris (sycamore bark) trying to figure out how it is to become art???
