My first hour this morning was doing good deeds, for the natural world anyway. Before leaving I was checking our strawberry and blueberry plants with bird netting and found a 4' blacksnake in the net. carefully unwrapped him and let him go. Do snakes eat stawberries???
My interest in ceramics and photography is often overlapping. Objects of interest to me sometimes come from random fallen leaves or layering of mountain range upon mountain range. A blending of glaze over textured clay gives controlled random color. A clay surface becomes a focus for flat abstract photograph. Leaf or flower structure becomes inspiration for ceramic texture. Finding the art is my goal.

Clay things today
Did some clay work last week and this weekend. Glazed 5 or 6 pieces and made 4 others. my favorite was a new server with three feet. (With cell phone camera, sorry,) White and home native clays blended and burnished. will be fired with no glaze.

New photos , old tree.
I can not resist taking photos of this tree, same as last year blog. "Princess Tree (or Empress Tree) is a native plant of China that was introduced into the U.S. in the mid 1800’s. Is more commonly seen along roadsides and disturbed sites throughout our region. Although still planted as an ornamental tree and used for reclamation of mine sites, it is considered an invasive species." Mine grows near the dumpster at the office.

Highlands adventure
A little photo liberties to one of my shots to give feeling/mystery to the highlands that a digital clear focus misses.
