My interest in ceramics and photography is often overlapping. Objects of interest to me sometimes come from random fallen leaves or layering of mountain range upon mountain range. A blending of glaze over textured clay gives controlled random color. A clay surface becomes a focus for flat abstract photograph. Leaf or flower structure becomes inspiration for ceramic texture. Finding the art is my goal.

Weekend clay work
Continued working on my home clays, this is a porcelain and three home clay combination. No kiln yet, no glazing will be done when fired. This layering of clays and hammered wood mallet compressed method creates a marbled natural effect. Sorry for the bad camera work, cell phone in shop!

Today, I am humbled.
Amanda Henderson told me several weeks ago she was going to do an artist bio on me and she sent me today the results, at Amanda Henderson. Thank you, thank you.
My friend Amanda Henderson, in NY is a knitwear designer and good friend of my son Will McLeod who is also a fashion designer and his Blog site. Both these very talented individuals do clothing design as an artistic statement. And do it extremely well
To get a little idea of her great talent, one of her blog pages shows this very well, and the many glowing NY reviews of her work, "lost pieces."
Just a little more clay painting.
Worked this weekend with a quick small sun baked clay"painting" this one I added a little black stove ash on top.

What a difference a dry day makes
This is a followup on the previous blog. After about day and half of sun dried clay the results are wonderful IF you don't mind cracks. No color added!

Back to some clay work
This is a continued study of my local home clays I have found and working on a 8 x8 wood backing. This is before drying and the welcomed cracks of sunbaked thin native clay. This will not be fired.
